DeAnza Media + Learning Center recognized with ENR CA Best Green Project Award of Merit, December 2013

The new Media + Learning Center at DeAnza College is awarded an ENR California Best Green Project Award of Merit.

One of the few large buildings in the world featuring a passive downdraft, natural-air ventilation HVAC system will use 71 percent less energy than the regional average for higher education buildings, placing it well ahead of the AIAs 2030 Challenge and 2015 reduction target. Housing 14 classrooms for anthropology and general education, all outfitted with new AV and communications technology, the projects energy features are predicted to save the campus $60,000 per year while reinforcing the Colleges legacy to produce buildings that educate by example. The project is on track for LEED Platinum certification.
