SJSU Health & Wellness Center receives Best Practice Award, California Higher Education Sustainability Conference, 2017

The design-build (Ratcliff/Blach) Student Health & Wellness Center project was honored with the CHESC Overall Sustainable Design Award.  The 2017 Best Practice Awards honor energy efficiency and sustainability best practices in higher education environments. 

The San Jose State University Student Health and Wellness Center was designed to utilize sustainable design features to enhance building performance while providing a comfortable environment in which to address student health care needs. Design features included passive solar heating, recycled building materials, low-maintenance landscaping, daylight management systems, dual plumbing, and dimmable lighting controls. Estimated annual savings include 600,000 gallons of water, 229,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity, and $50,000 in utility costs.
