Community Medical Centers Master Plan/Program and New Trauma/Critical Care Building
Fresno, CA

This major multi-phased redevelopment project will culminate in a 58-acre urban campus that consolidates the existing Fresno Community Medical Center, University Medical Center, and University of California, San Francisco medical education program in Fresno. The plan’s first phase features a new, 300,000 s.f., six-level trauma/critical care tower with a prominent cylindrical atrium that spans the structure’s entire height. Referred to as “a center of hope and healing”, the building houses the County trauma and burn center designed for 100,000 patient visits per year, a trauma and high-acuity surgery center, a cardiac catheterization suite with three laboratories and a cardiac MRI, a state-of-the-art digital imaging center, and 68-critical care beds. Future phases may include a women’s services pavilion, ambulatory care center, medical office buildings, and renovation of the existing hospital. A new central energy plant and a central cook/chill kitchen to serve all of Community Medical Centers Fresno campuses have also been completed during this phase.
