23 Nov Exploring the challenges of delivering medical care in the future
Ratcliff advances in Healthcare Design’s Breaking Through conceptual design competition that explores the challenges of delivering medical care in the future. Named as one of the 16 semi-finalists (out of 54 entries) our team was tasked to push innovation while breaking the usual rules and restrictions of healthcare design. Our entry, The Patient Bed: Re-Made, features MADDY, a Mobile Assist Diagnostic Designed for You. This newly designed patient bed will transform health at the patient’s closest interface, to provide more effective care to restore health and wellness.
This design will incorporate artificial intelligence and state-of-the art material science to revolutionize the way care is delivered, helping both patient, family and caregivers in any setting. The adaptable design focuses on infection control, ease of use by patient and caregiver, remote monitoring and bio-feedback as a means of improving wellness. Using ultra-light, strong and electrically conductive mattress material, our design incorporates an endoskeleton structure that is flexible and comfortable. The design promotes better sleep, recovery speed and ultimately improved health.
