/ De La Salle High School Performing Arts Center

To meet the school’s growing needs, Ratcliff undertook a study to determine if the goals of a modernized Performing Arts Center could be achieved while retaining the existing theatre portion of the building. Through user meetings with project stakeholders and our contracted theater consultant, we arrived at a renovation and 3,150 sq. ft. addition, featuring an expanded foyer, raked seating, orchestra pit and an enhanced stage, expanded restroom facilities, in addition to a new theatrical rigging system.

The new expanded foyer will create a much-needed focal point for the main campus quad, as well as additional internal space and a venue for school receptions. A large cantilevered roof canopy will define a “stage” area of the courtyard, creating both a formal backdrop for campus-wide events and a venue for impromptu student gatherings. In addition to enlivening the existing campus quad, the theater re-design will enhance physical and curricular connections with the new, adjacent STREAM Center across a strategically located courtyard where students may undertake large, collaborative projects.
