/ First Congregational Church of Berkeley Master Plan + Renovations

After initially designing the First Congregational Church in the 1930’s, Ratcliff was fortunate to be invited back to campus to assess their Sanctuary/Chancel, provide design services for a new organ installation and renovate their multi-purpose room / assembly room. After developing their master plan and conducting a campus-wide code analysis, we were asked to revitalize their sanctuary building, which unfortunately had begun to show the result of years of clutter. We were challenged with redirecting the focus back to the preferred focal point of the Cross, while continuing the original design intent as it would have been implemented over 50 years prior.
