This 51,000 s.f. Indoor Recreation Center was designed to promote multi-generational activity and advance the well-being of Morgan Hill’s diverse community. A grand main entry connects two areas of focus active and community spaces. The active area includes an indoor warm water recreational pool, a gym with a full size and two half size courts, a fitness room with cardio equipment and weights, and an aerobics room for classes. The community space is shared between a senior space which includes social service and conference areas and a generous lounge lobby area which serves as a central meeting area. Additional features include a multipurpose room, a youth area featuring a game room and social lounge, and a child activity room. Each of the community spaces in the building have their own outdoor areas providing direct connection outside and visual connection with the community park.The building takes cues from the surrounding El Toro Mountain and the California hillside and is situated to achieve the best interior day lighting and solar gain control. The main public spaces in the building have a vaulted structure which expresses the dynamic nature of the activities inside, and unites the building with its natural environment.Executive Architect: Noll & Tam
