As part of a phased, multi-year plan to create a new Urban Academic Village, UC Law SF and the Department of General Services (DGS) retained Ratcliff as the Master Architect for a new Academic Facility located at 333 Golden Gate Avenue. The Law Center features smart classrooms, conference rooms, and shared community spaces, such as a lounge and hub on the main floor for students, faculty, and alumni. A new outdoor quad is directly adjacent to the ground-floor hub, allowing interior and exterior spaces to serve complementary functions. Students can enter the building from the quad and from Golden Gate Avenue. The building’s main floor and lobby are designed to be comfortable and welcoming, to encourage chance encounters and focused collaboration, and to strengthen the school’s sense of community. The rooftop floor is a premier community event space with views of City Hall and the San Francisco skyline.
During the RFP phase, Ratcliff worked closely with project stakeholders to validate the space program. In addition, we developed Design Guidelines and performance criteria documents to evaluate proposals. In the DB construction phase, Ratcliff reviewed construction documents for conformance with established Performance Criteria/Submittal Documents and other related contractual requirements.
