Ratcliff designed a 7,500 sf Inpatient Rehabilitation Gym which provides services for physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech pathology. With an entry adjacent to the main lobby and bamboo garden, patients are inspired by the natural light and soothing architecture of the new expanded hospital. The gym is separated by translucent glass that allows natural light in but maintains privacy. A unique feature of this design is the employment of a motorized lift and rail system that revolutionizes patient mobility and therapy. Patients will be able to walk independently along a track with gradual increases in weight capacity until they can walk unassisted.
