NorthBay Healthcare’s Medical Center expansion focuses on transforming healthcare in Solano County. Utilizing an integrated project delivery model, the design team worked in close collaboration with the Owner and contractor to maximize project value using a lean approach. The modernization features a North Wing addition, an Emergency Department expansion, and a new Welcome Pavilion. The North Wing, a 77,000 SF, 3-story acute care hospital, includes 22 state-of-the-art patient rooms, eight high-tech surgical suites, a 16-bed post- anesthesia care unit, diagnostic imaging, central sterile, and a new kitchen/café. The four phased, 17,100 SF Emergency Department expansion, remained operational while patient flow and visual connections to patients was improved. A separate 1-story, 4,500 SF Welcome Pavilion advances patient care by providing a concierge experience for patient registration. In order to work within the approval timelines required for the agencies having jurisdiction, the project was broken into different packages for design documents and plan review. The first package which falls under the jurisdiction of the City of Fairfield, included all site work and the Welcome Pavilion. Subsequent packages, which fall under the jurisdiction of the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) included oxygen line relocations, Data Center relocation, connection to the Pavilion Building, the 3-story Expansion and the ED renovation.*Associated Architect: Perkins Eastman
