Building upon our recent award-winning project experience and successful relationship with the Foothill-De Anza Community College District, Ratcliff was asked to design a signature piece for the District’s new Office Building located at the Foothill College campus. The two-story building houses administrative offices and the District’s Board Room for both Foothill and De Anza Colleges. Like the Physical Sciences and Engineering Center (designed by Ratcliff), the design for the New District Office contextually honors the historically and architecturally significant campus. The facility is NZE ready with gently sloping roofs to the south and is geared towards low maintenance with metal roofing and siding. The two story office wing is based on a highly flexible open plan; office areas are flanked by service zones with shared amenities as well as director offices. The unique board room is shaped for efficient communication and transparency. In the Foothill College tradition, the use of natural materials, wood finishes, and interiors with abundant daylight and views to the oak studded hills are inclusive design hallmarks.
