The new Brentwood Center was designed to support student success and build community. At the intersection of new development, agricultural land and the regional hills, it is intrinsically connected to its setting. The Center includes four buildings: Administration; Commons; a Classroom building that houses 13 classrooms with integrated AV, perimeter writable/projectable surfaces, and flexible furniture to support multi-modal learning; and a Science building with four state-of-the-art labs. Each building is connected by an indoor/outdoor circulation spine. The Commons Building, envisioned as the heart of the new Center, includes a multi-purpose light-filled space that opens to the main courtyard which is designed for student groups as well as large gatherings, fairs and other community events.
Inspired by the farmhouse vernacular, the architecture of the new Center connects the indoors and outdoors and utilizes passive cooling approaches where possible; including an east/west solar orientation for all the buildings, and optimized natural daylight throughout. The Center incorporates multiple sustainable features and achieved LEED Gold Certification.
